Reddit was founded by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian at the University of Virginia. Condé Nast Publications acquired the site in October 2006. In 2011, Reddit became an independent subsidiary of Condé Nast's parent company, Advance Publications. Reddit is an American social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website. Registered members submit content to the site such as links, text posts, and images, which are then voted up or down by other members. There is a form of censorship on reddit know as "selective censorship". This censorship targets a small number of categories or issues as surveillance is done on the site. They are a bit more lenient I feel compared to YouTube, Twitter, and other social media sites on censoring. I don't like the idea of censoring information that isn't harmful to public interest. Some people don't like having their ideologies challenged or get offended over things that aren't really that sensitive of a topic and get others censored. Over the right circumstances I condone censoring when people come from a place of hate towards others or if its sexual harassment or obscene material.
