The internet/social media company I have chosen to research is Buzzfeed. Buzzfeed is an internet company that has been around since 2006. Their website consists of quizzes, videos, news, and food videos. They post a lot of their videos on YouTube. In their videos, the employees present themselves as hardworking and driven. They also talk very good about their experiences at the company. But, the reviews online told a different story.
One ex-employee (who was a former video editor) said, "Terrible experience. Poorly run and managed company. People in charge of teams are only there because of nepotism. Everyone good leaves the company, and poor performers are left and then promoted."
Another former employee wrote, "Buzzfeed provides many perks like free lunches, snack bars, and occasional entertainments to keep things interesting. However, they don't compensate for the poor management and the lack of respect for ALL employees."
After reading the reviews, it showed that no matter how accepting and fun a job looks, there are always dark secrets. When looking for ANY job, it is smart to read reviews from former and current employees.
