Blog Assignment #7 Meme, Power and Social Capital

 

For this meme selection, I choose the Spider-Man Pointing at Spider-Man meme originated from a webpage called Sharenator back in 2011. The meme is from a Spider-Man cartoon from the 60's were two different Spiderman’s from different universes point at each other as they are surprised to see each other. This a meme can relate to power as two entities can have an equal amount of power and even though they both have power, it can be confusing as to who has more power over the other, as they both have equal power but in different areas, thus balancing out. As to the social capital aspect, the same can be implied as at times we see groups of people striving for the same goal but in slightly different ways. It's not easy to see how power and social capital among two parties, groups, entities, or individuals are similar or the same. Thankfully there are memes like this Spider-Man Pointing at Spider-Man that help others see the difference among subject matters in a comical yet informative way.
