The presidential debate that happened on the last week of September 2020 had the USA in an uproar. There were so many different and controversial take away from the live broadcasted event. One major takeaway is when the mediator asked the president to rebuke white supremacy and he instead called them proud boys and told them to stand back, and stand by. In case you are not familiar with white suprimists and who the proud boys are, they are “a far-right, neo-fascist, and male-only organization that promotes and engages in political violence in the United States and Canada.” If you type the hash tag “#proudboy” into any social media platform you will see a lot of hate, racism, and our president. As of recent, a meme of gay men posting using the hashtag proud boys has gone viral as they try to decrease the amount of hate that is being spewed from the hash tag.
