pre web vs now #4

Before the advent of the internet or at least my discovery of it, music was not so easily accessible. My first introduction to music in a portable format was a cassette tape. This seemed pretty incredible to me at the time. The only other way I knew how to record music was to make a recording of it on a cell phone. But it didn't take long for me to be introduced to CD's and MP3 players as technology progressed. When you look at Cassette tapes and compare them to what options are available for music today it's almost baffling. Cassette tapes can only contain about 120 minutes of audio. That's practically nothing when you compare it to streaming services such as Spotify which allow access to thousands of hours to music for a small fee. It is pretty incredible to think about how fast the medium has changed and how big of a role the internet has had in it. The internet provides the means to have music streamed directly to the device of your choosing. No more waiting for Cassettes or CDs to hear your favorite song. Music is now just a click away.
