Defining Social Media -- Madison Alexander

 Social media has been such a huge part of many people's lives. Millions of people use it to connect with others from all over the globe. Relationships of all kinds have been created with the help of social media. I would define social media as websites and apps that allow people to build platforms, create content, and share beliefs. There are many apps that people frequently use, for example, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Personally, I do not categorize apps like Linkdin as social media, but that may be because I do not use them religously. Linkdin is social because people use it to connect with potential employers and business ventures. When we, as a collective group, decided that a media source is "unworthy," people tend to abondon that source. I think that when we exclude obvious social media sources, it just shows that the human race is only attracted to what's popular not what they actually need.
