The first DVD player was made by Sony Corporation in 1997. Also in 1997, Netflix was founded as a DVD rental and selling company. Fast forward a little over twenty years and Sony remains a conglomerate, Netflix is now a streaming and production company, and DVD players are a thing of the past. It's not hard to see why however. With a DVD player you watch one movie, the one you inserted, and have to get up to switch DVDs if you want to watch something else. This excludes the part where one has to buy every single DVD they want to watch and be careful not to scratch those DVDs. With Netflix, thousands of tv shows and movies are at your fingertips, and you only need click a button in order to change the television after whatever it is you were watching goes off. Instead of buying multiple DVDs for $25-$35 each, you can now only pay $12.99 (that's seriously they're least expensive plan) for, as previously mentioned, thousands of tv shows and movies. I would have to say that the new technology made watching things much more convenient; until they remove something you were waiting to see.
