When I was in middle school I would always carry around my iPod to listen to music, then once I got into high school and final got my first smart phone I started using that to listen to music. This was in 2013 so Spotify, Tidal, and Apple Music was a bid thing yet, but apps like SoundCloud were a huge deal. SoundCloud introduced me to a lot of music that I probably would have never heard of before if it were just me and my iPod. My friends and I would always share SoundCloud links with each other showing off new music we found. Once streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music were fully establish the downhill of iPods and SoundCloud followed. Instead of learning about new music through SoundCloud links and word of mouth I learn about new music through social media like TikTok, YouTube, and podcasts.
