Online Identity

The politician that I decided to report on is Bernie Sanders. His speech seems pretty accurate to how it is during his video speeches and interviews. He says this with the same amount of passion and sometimes even aggression as he does when he starts going off about the rich creating systems against the poor. Usually when people have different social accounts they're speech differs from accounts. Aside from social media platforms a persons speech, intonations, and most importantly attitude sometimes does not reflect properly across text on a screen. That is usually the main issue with communication when it comes to talking over a screen, not all symbols and feelings can be expressed through letters. Sometimes the best way to convey a message is by doing it person. It can even be argued that in person communication is superiors because of humans ability to empathize and connect with the other person without even saying a word. Bernie's identity, to an extent is tied to his social media account. This is one of the reasons why Bernie is able to connect with people. He comes across as someone who is being genuine and does want to help people out.

The celebrity that I decided to report is Billy Ray Cyrus he is not really a big deal anymore but at one point he did have some fame. I observed the same thing with Bill Ray. He posts about his kids, he posts about his youth and things that he is nostalgic about. So one of the things that both of these accounts tell me is one of 2 things. These older guys are more expressive and unfiltered on social platforms for a lot of different topics. One of the main things that I see with younger social media users is that they almost always put on a persona when online, that is extremely positive to the point of seeming disingenuous. These older men seem as they don't really care about what other people think about what they share on social media, and that is something really admirable. Or perhaps their accounts are being run by another person who is interpreting their ideas for them. Which makes you question who people really are on the internet.
