Darrell Thomas: How I define Social Media

 I define social media as a site in which people gather and share information, memes, updates of their life, photos, videos and etc. I often think people exclude places such as a discussion board as social media or even our platform blogger that we are on, but to me because we share our thoughts and ideas on here to each other that makes this a social media platform. The media may not deem certain sites such as twitter social media because of how fast fake news can be spread on the platform. But at the same time it is the fastest at breaking news because it is real people telling real stories. Platforms such as Facebook have dealt with huge influxes of fake news and had their site looked as an unreliable source for media and news. I believe this is why media outlets and others say platforms such as twitter and instagram aren't reliable social medias.
