Blog Post #3 Measuring Social Media

Some benefits of measuring Social media come from what the big data is been collected as it is been stored for the future and current examination by many. Such things like been aware of what is trending, what people like and do not like, and different informational data; is accessible in matters of seconds compared to the origins of the internet. Big data now refers to the technological and cultural data that is been analyzed by the capabilities of modern computers. It's more of the research than the amount of data a computer can hold.

Some of the challenges when it comes to Big Data become that they are prone to errors. Weather combining different data sets, there are many rules, and privacy settings when it comes to data sharing. There is an overlap of data and permission access that individuals are not aware of. If I remember correctly, a couple years ago there was a company named Equifax that was sharing personal data to other companies without in the individuals knowing. That data was breach and many Americans sensitive information ware at risk of going through identity deft. Thus the problem comes when filtering and working with sensitive data, as any other company can buy and share, personal sensitive data that we believe only one company, app, the website has access to.

Some of the implications with big data come from the access and the privet data itself. Many countries might restrict, block, and filter what's going in and out from their countries. Thus, many of the data might not be accessible to different people in different regions. It is also important to understand that data is been uploaded daily, every second, minute all 365 days a year. All that data must and is been filter or sorted out in such ways for the user to find a more accurate, reliable, and credible source of data. Thus private data searching in social media might be a bit of a hustle as the number and types of sources been filter must go into finding resemblance to the specific research to see what is going to be accounted for or ignored for the filtering.
