Wikipedia faces credibility and accuracy problems, due to the website model. Wikipedia allows users to create and edit the pages o the site, and it is impossible for moderators to ensure all information is up to date, accurate, and detailed. Wikipedia pages are often taken at face-value instead of with a grain of salt, which can spread misinformation. Wikipedia page authors and editors are sometimes purposefully spreading untrue information for the sake of jokes or other reasons, while lazy high school students sometimes like to use Wikipedia as a credible source for research. Not all Wikipedia editors are malicious or practical jokesters, and some users are really committed to writing and editing Wikipedia pages.
Wikipedia remains one of the largest websites in the world, and its influence cannot be denied. Quora is a similar website that is focused on questions and answers, asked and answered by the users of the site. It allows the site users to create and edit posts, and the information circulated is created by the users. Quora has a lot of misinformation as well, and a lot of the answers are more of an opinion than a fact. The democratization of information can be a good thing, but for sites like Wikipedia and Quora, it could be damaging. It should be more clear that the information presented on these sites should not be taken as fact without further research.
