Social Media: What is it to me?

Social media is a form of communication in which online communities of news, entertainment, lives, knowledge, etc. can be shared to mass amounts of people in a short amount of time. It is also a place where people can interact with each other and share their ideas in a virtual reality in real time. The access to information has never been this obtainable, and anyone can participate as long as they have a decent computer and internet connection. People have gained voices who haven't had them. People have gained opportunities that has changed their lives. I think my favorite platform is YouTube for the variety of videos you can run into on almost any subject matter. I personally don't use any of the big names like Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook at the moment, but these are platforms where ideally people should be able to be themselves. 

Social media is making it's mark in history, and it continues to do so by growing with technology. Lives continue to change around it, and I hope that in the future of social media our lives can change for the better and not the worst.
